Just in case...

you didn't know. This is what a 2 year old with an attitude looks like. :)

It's Official

I'm going crazy! All I can think about are Hayden's train tracks. He tears them apart 3,4, sometimes even 5 times a day. Don't get me wrong he plays with them the right way. But, for some reason he gets satisfaction in tearing them apart and putting them back together. The problem, he can't put them back together so I have to. At first I began taking pictures of the finished product but I found that it was harder to look at a sheet of paper and then build. So now I build a different track every time because I can't remember exactly how the first one was. I've gotten pretty good at it. However, I can't stop thinking about how I can make it better. It's become quite and obsession. I catch myself through out the day thinking about these tracks! I even dream about them. It's gotten completely out of hand...I may need professional help!

This is what we started with.

Bye Bye Peace and Quiet

I've expressed my concern with many of you about Hayden's vocabulary. I just didn't think he was were he should be. He was still pointing and making sounds but not very many words. So, at Hayden's last doctors visit I brought this up. At Hayden's age he should have a vocabulary of about 50-60 words. I thought she was crazy when she told me that. She didn't seem to think there was a problem but just to be sure she gave me some homework. Gosh, I don't remember the last time I had homework!! I was instructed to come home and write down everything that comes out of that little mouth. As I began writing I was amazed at how much I came up with. I forgot that hey, bye, mine, were all words. I guess I was expecting my little boy to have this unbelievable vocabulary. What was I thinking? He's only 2! I got to 61 words and stopped. My little boy is OK! I finally felt better about the situation.

Now, only 2 weeks later Hayden is talking in sentences. He says at least 5 new words everyday and he never shuts up! NEVER! I'm not kidding from the time he wakes up in the morning until he goes to bed he never stops. His newest thing is talking to the TV. When Mickey, Dora, or Diego asks a question he answers them. He'll say "back pack" or "a map a map". My brain needs a break!! My mom says this is pay back for all the times she wanted me to be quiet. And she says it never stops, she still can't get me to shut up. I guess I deserve it. I'm kidding I do love to hear him talk! He's just so freakin' cute!

Adventures with Daddy

On Wednesday Greg and I took Hayden to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. Greg and Hayden had a ton of fun discovering things together. It was nice to get out of the house and spend some time together as a family.

The entire museum is hands on, so it's a really fun place for kids, and Greg!

Hayden loved the Dinosaurs! Afterwards we went to Walmart and bought him a placemat of all the dinosaurs that he is in love with. Pretty soon he'll be able to tell you which one is which.

Here are some wonderful videos of Hayden and Daddy making music. Enjoy!!

After a long day of visiting with animals, making music, flying spaceships, and shopping at Walmart Hayden felt he needed to take a break!

Hayden's First Snow!

All week we have been anticipating the arrival of snow and it finally came yesterday afternoon. Hayden has never seen snow, but thanks to Noggin (preschool on tv) he knew exactly what it was. So when it finally starting snowing he was so excited. And then it stopped. Greg and I put Hayden down for a nap and it began snowing again so when Hayden woke up there was a dusting of snow on everything. He couldn't wait to get outside. He had fun for a little while but it was so cold we had to go back in.
Hayden had his two year check up this week and he seems to be right on track. He is between the 30-60 percentile on everything. They were a little concerned that he was too skinny and ran some tests but everything came back normal. He's just a skinny kid. Other than that nothing exciting has happened here, except for the snow!

Two Things

Just a little while ago I was led to a blog that has truly touched my heart. Everyone needs to take some time and read the postings of a brave husband and father. Nathan and his wife Tricia, who has been struggling with Cystic Fibrosis her entire life just welcomed their daughter Gweneth Rose into the world. Their journey has not been easy and still remains to be a struggle. Nathan and his family are incredibly courageous, strong, and amazing. But, they need every ones thoughts and prayers right now. Please take the time to check out his blog and pray for him and his family.

While I was reading Nathan's blog Hayden was supposed to be taking a nap. Here lately Hayden has been put in his room to take a nap and he doesn't go to sleep until an hour and a half later. While on the computer I hear Hayden calling my name so I run in there and this is what I find.

By the way, Hayden never fell asleep. He's on the couch now with Greg watching Toy Story.

Hayden is 2!

I can't believe it. I guess I never thought that he would grow up so fast. I am the mother to a two year old. I think it's a pretty big accomplishment that Greg and I have kept him alive and healthy for 2 whole years. I'm just kidding. It hasn't been that hard. But boy has he changed our lives, in more ways than he will ever know. I can't believe it has been two years. That's all I've been able to think about lately. It seems like not long ago I was pregnant in the hospital and in danger of losing him or my own life. Now he's 2! Before I get all weepy I should move on.

Hayden's Sesame Street party was yesterday and after me stressing out for a whole week it went pretty well. Besides the fact that we had to make multiple trips to the store during the party. First Meko ate a whole loaf of Hawaiian bread and then the grill ran out of gas. Other than that I think it was a success. All the kids had a great time! Hayden was so exhausted last night we were worried something was wrong. He wasn't his normal talkative self. After a good nights sleep he was back to normal at 6:30 this morning.

I originally wanted just a cake of one character but I couldn't decide which one since he likes them all. I finally narrowed it down to a few and this is the final product. Hayden loved them so much he wouldn't eat one, he just wanted to look at them. All the other kids enjoyed them, they were covered with icing. This is just one tray I have a ton left over.

Hayden always has a ton of fun with his uncle Justin and cousin Landon. Thy ran around the yard I know for a good hour while Justin chased them.

Hayden got some new things for his GeoTrax train set. As you can see all the kids were just as excited about finding out what he got as he was.

A bucket of blocks from Grandma, who would have ever known that this would be his favorite toy in the entire house. We play blocks and trains all day long. All I hear is "mommy pay boks meezz" or "mommy pay choo choos meezz"

Nana bought Hayden a Mp3 player that you shake to change the song. It's the neatest little thing I've ever seen. Before his Birthday I downloaded a bunch of kid songs on it and the soundtrack to Toy Story (Hayden's favorite movie). While he plays his blocks or his choo choo's he listens to "you've got a friend in me" from Toy Story over and over again.

Hayden got a F150 power wheel for his birthday. He was so excited when he saw it and wanted to ride it right away. However, he doesn't quite know how to drive it yet. He has the pedal down pat but the steering may take a while. He likes for me to steer for him while he pushes the pedals. He'll figure it out eventually.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post these pictures. I have some new pictures from Hayden's "nap" time today that I will post later.

I know I just posted

I can't believe I got this on video. Before you watch it you should know that he's OK! He does this quite often. He gets his clumsiness from me, poor kid!

And this is what he was trying to show me...

Just a few pictures!

Fresh out of the bath in his new cars robe.

Hayden and his new train tracks. He loves this present from Santa!!

We have been very surprised by how well Hayden has done in his "Big Boy Bed". He doesn't leave his room in the morning until we go in and get him! I was so worried he would get out in the middle of the night and wonder around. He loves that he's a big boy!

Hayden turns 2 this weekend and his party is Sesame Street themed. Today we made Sesame Street characters out of toilet paper rolls. He played with the glue more than anything. He had fun and that's all that really matters.

The finished product!! He's pretty proud of what we made!
